De Silvestro Joins IndyCar With HVM Racing

Simona De Silvestro will become the latest female racing star to try her hand at racing in the IZOD IndyCar Series thanks to a partnership between HVM Racing and Team Stargate Worlds.

De Silvestro, a 21-year-old native of Switzerland, will run the entire 17-race IZOD IndyCar Series schedule this year for Team Stargate Worlds/HVM Racing in the No. 78 entry with primary sponsorship from Stargate Resistance and associate sponsorship from Bernard Richards Manufacture (BRM), FireSky, Cheyenne Mountain Games, and Cardinal Technologies.

Aaron’s Dream Weekend at Talladega Superspeedway

The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series visits the high banks of Talladega Superspeedway for the first time in 2010. The ARCA Re/Max Series on Friday features some of racing’s brightest stars ready to shine at Talladega Superspeedway. The Aaron’s 312, NSCAR Nationwide Series takes place on Saturday, and the Aaron’s 499 on Sunday.

A Trilogy of Women for IndyCar

The Izod IndyCar Series opener is less than two weeks away, and WISH-TV has learned there will be another new driver on the grid.Indianapolis-based HVM Racing will campaign Swiss rookie Simona de Silvestro in the 2010 season.

De Silvestro has five career wins in the Atlantic Series, finishing 3rd in the championship in 2009.

The Swiss driver tested with HVM at last week’s preseason open test at Barber Motorsports Park in Alabama.

De Silvestro will be the third female driver entered at the Izod IndyCar Series opener in Brazil, joining full-time driver Danica Patrick, and Brazil’s Ana Beatriz, who is making her IndyCar debut in her home country.
