Cars will look different at Talladega
This time around, for the Aaron’s 499 NASCAR Sprint Cup race next Sunday, the changes are in body style and lifestyle. The Sprint Cup cars, who had a rear wing in the old Car of Tomorrow design, now have rear spoilers instead.
The spoilers were tested at Talladega a month ago and though they’ve been used at a few races since, it’s been nothing like the aerodynamic challenges of the 2.66-mile superspeedway.
“I think the good thing is that there’s nothing large or big jumping out at us saying the spoiler is a lot different,” said four-time champion Jimmie Johnson.
The lifestyle change is the “have-at-it” way of life where drivers have been allowed to settle differences on the track and to wield their own bit of justice to over-aggressive competitors. (more…)
